We liked the phrase "experimental laboratory racing." Well, at least we do when it's cool technology the future of racing cars and not the mobile meth lab. The good thing, then, that the Porsche 918 RSR - shown today at the Detroit Auto Show 2011 - is of persuasion hyper-tech racing car equipped with a V8, mid mounted directly injected to produce 563 horsepower to a six-speed racing transmission.
But it's not too experimental. Let's try adding an electric motor at each front wheel. That should help. It also must make a 918 RSR is able, in short bursts, producing 767 horsepower. The electricity used to power these motors comes from a kinetic energy recovery system with a flywheel accumulator installed where the passenger seat would be in a car less experimental. We have seen the same technology used in the drivers' Hybrid 911 GT3 R. Porsche getting ready to unveil a 'spectacular' concept in 2011 Detroit Auto Show later this morning. This concept version rumored to be the study of the 918 Spyder. This will be displayed in the form of car racing coupe.
